the first r&b rec record is born from the encounter of two artists in the gloomy baltimore of the beginning of the millennium, after years in which their artistic roads proceeded in a very much parallel manner, without ever physically crossing paths, driven by their passion for analog instrumentation and the desire to find and create new rhythmics and sounds. it is in 2013 the two decide to join their forces to create their own personal vision of techno music and dance music in general. resulting in a hot and scratchy vinyl that combines dark, percussion sounds well known from detoit techno, with the sought after rhythmic of breakbeat and drum and base, of the british nineties. also packed with influences of acid-house, this record incorporates features of the so influential 80 s punk era, finally sinking it s roots in the psychedelic currents of the 70 s. the result is a brand new genre which is difficult, if not impossible to define. a unique way of defining dance music, in all its aspects, which is identified under the name of spaceship surgery techno.

wiederveröffentlichung von mobys fünftem studio-album als doppel-lp-set mit 180g schwerem vinyl. ursprünglich 1999 veröffentlicht, wurde es zum erfolgreichsten indie-album des jahres und in über 20 ländern mit platin ausgezeichnet. mit -play- änderte moby seine arbeitsweise ein weiteres mal. er nahm samples aus folk und gospel - viele davon entstammen aus dem archiv von alan lomax - und verbindet diese mit seinen elektronischen klanglandschaften. dabei schneidet er aus den samples schleifen, die er endlos wiederholt: bessie jones -sometimes- wird in -honey- über 20 mal wiederholt und so entfaltet er den hypnotischen sog, der diesen song zum hit machte. bei erscheinen wendeten sich viele moby-fans, die ein techno-album erwartet hatten, ab und das album schaffte es nicht bedeutend in den charts aufzutauchen. es sollte über zehn monate dauern, bis sich das blatt wendete und das album sich doch noch zum absoluten hit mauserte. mit 9 (!) single-auskopplungen und unzähligen lizensierungen an tv-shows, filme und werbespots entwickelte sich das album zum dauerbrenner und hat bis heute weit über 12 millionen einheiten abgesetzt.

defined as an independent entity, drawing its inspiration from the deconstructed walls of an imaginary and utopian society where music is king and artist is servant, forsaken cell is a paris and lyon based structure composed of a small ravers community, aimed to show an indie, radical and experimental face of the french underground scene.the third release is the introduction of jiman into the forsaken cell. living near lille, a french city located between berlin and detroit, jiman makes a perfect mixture of those two towns that are his two main influences, focusing on the grainy, harsh, metalic and experimental sound of early 90s techno, with a relish of poetry, smoothness and a slight broken side of idm. his debut ep on the label is composed of 5 tracks that draws on the vinyl groove his long trip into the abyssal deepness of techno music, smelling an uncompromising industrial and raw atmosphere. the artwork, released by lexpo-studio, makes many senses and is opened to many interpretations. this ep is mastered by loop-o at calyx mastering and is available on forsakencell.com.

rustling pillows, irate flamingos, drums thumped feverishly in basements. tweaked cassettes, noisy buses, restless hands tapping dashboard rhythms in thick dusk traffic. found sound, musique concre&#768,,te, stuttering drum loops forged in twilight boredom — hyperedited into ruminative dance collages. pillow by mischa lively (ne&#769,,e barton, blake): 4 songs, 25 minutes, a hybrid of exertion and uplift. pillow marks both the nashville native’s debut for racecar and the denouement of an evolution. once rigidly stuck to notions of how rhythm should be utilized — barton is a trained percussionist — the producer eventually realized the potential in limiting himself to a minimalist diet of new and archived drum loops from which to build songs. studying myriad treatment techniques, barton then executed a vision unmoored to binary ideas about “live” versus “electronic,” blurring lines as he composed with an ear for idm, dub, techno, and ambient music. hence pillow: a vast assemblage of rhythm and sound performed to mirror the spirit of dance records. indeed, the 12” is as ripe for warehouse parties as meditative nights alone, headphones affixed, candles lit, marveling at the mysteries humans conjure with physical limbs. “rhythm is instinctual to me,” barton remarks when asked about his preference for recording analogue patterns versus beats sourced from 1s and 0s. “and i dislike sitting nearly as much as working from computers.” movement, then, is a virtue to barton, and in mischa lively he’s found a taut, elegant, propulsive vehicle in which to explore it.
